Incidentally, today’s (31st October, 2015) formal launch of PPFI co-incides with “Ekta Divas” which, I feel is that the unity of the Purchasing people which will remain everlasting. I am glad that somebody thought of it (PPFI) because, when I started procuring materials many years ago, there was nobody to guide us. We had to struggle a lot to get some information. I feel proud to see that you are sharing information over e-mails and WhatsApp which is of great help to all the Purchasing professionals associated with the Forum. I wish you all the best of luck and best of journey in the coming years…
I congratulate the team which has taken the initiative to launch Purchasing Professionals Forum India (PPFI)…and it is a great initiative. Purchasing plays a very important role. Chefs and Purchasing have a very close relationship…as one would say, there is a woman behind every man’s success…I would say, behind every successful Chef is the support of Purchasing. In today’s world, we keep talking about curtailing costs…Purchasing plays a very important role…since, a penny saved is a penny earned. I am sure PPFI will achieve greater glory. Heartiest Congratulations and Good Luck !!!
"I am glad that you have put this Forum together…the need, lot of us have felt but, has never come together. In the Hospitality business, the Purchasing person is a lot more important to the business…but does not get the recognition that he or she richly deserves…because you create the route…but, somehow it becomes a backroom game. I hope you all will join your hands together and bring value not only to yourself but to the Hotel which you represent…but more so, be a torch bearer for the practice of Purchasing / Sourcing of goods that people can look up to you for learning… "
I would like to congratulate the conceptualisation of the Forum by all the Executive Committee Members. I am really honoured and delighted to be here today because the Purchase function has been very close to my heart. I must say that the Forum which has been conceptualised will do a great job to the (Hospitality) industry. These (Purchasing) people are responsible for at least 30 to 35 % of the total cost. They always take a back seat and never come to the forefront. It is time for all of us to realise how much they contribute to the success of the hotel.
